Annual PWA football tournament raises over £1,400 for Heartbeat

PWA hosted its second annual Heartbeat Charity Tournament – a five-a-side football competition in support of Heartbeat, the North West’s leading charity for cardiac prevention and rehabilitation.

Building on the success of last year’s event, we returned to Bamber Bridge Sports Club, where nine teams battled it out through group stages and knockout rounds.

The tournament was a fantastic day of sport and community spirit, raising an impressive £1,480 for the charity.

Teams from the following companies took part:

  • PWA Planning
  • Harrison Drury
  • DJL Construction
  • Cassidy + Ashton
  • BEK Enviro
  • FWP Ltd
  • McDade Roberts Accountants and RPS Design Group (joint team)
  • Site Surveying Services
  • Urban Green

The tournament, played on a league basis, saw Harrison Drury dominate with a perfect record of five wins from five matches, topping the table with 18 points.

DJL Construction secured second place with four victories and 12 points, while Cassidy + Ashton also won four games, narrowly missing out on the runners-up spot on goal difference.

There was an entry fee for teams that wished to participate, and a Just Giving page was launched to raise money for Heartbeat.

Every week, the charity provides dedicated support to more than 950 individuals living with heart conditions across Lancashire. Through tailored exercise programmes, clinical assessments, nutritional guidance, and overall lifestyle and wellbeing support, they empower people to live healthier, more active lives.

A huge thanks to the teams that took part, as well as our friends and colleagues who donated; it will make a real difference to Heartbeat. They rely solely on voluntary donations, so every penny truly counts.
