Plans have been approved for a development of 32 new homes in Burnley, which will deliver much-needed affordable housing to the area.
PWA submitted plans to Burnley Borough Council, on behalf of its long-time client Calico, to redevelop the brownfield site on land off Villiers Street, close to the M65 and Burnley town centre.
The project will feature a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom homes, incorporating six distinct house types, with private gardens and access to parking and electric charging points. All properties will be available for affordable rent and rent to buy.
The site sits within an existing residential area, and benefits from being within walking distance from public transport links and local amenities including a primary school and shops.
Matthew Wyatt, associate at PWA Planning, said: “One of the big challenges with this scheme has been making sure the designs deliver high-quality living spaces while respecting the privacy of both new and existing residents.
“We’ve been working closely with Calico and other partners to shape a layout that follows strong design principles that improve the local surroundings. We’re excited to see the development come to life.”
Aligning with national and local planning objectives to prioritise brownfield regeneration and sustainable growth, the scheme will contribute to the ongoing improvement of Burnley’s housing stock, helping to create a vibrant and inclusive community.
