Public Consultation

On planning applications for larger developments, or those likely to have a significant impact on people and neighbourhoods, applicants are expected to have carried out a thorough public consultation prior to planning submission.

Rather than being a mere box-ticking exercise, a public consultation helps applicants to demonstrate they have fully considered the views of a wide range of stakeholders and, where necessary, responded to these views in bringing forward their application.

With years of experience in the planning sector, we can undertake and co-ordinate community consultation exercises on your behalf before, during and after planning applications.

As well as helping you capture feedback from residents, businesses, and other stakeholders, we can help you interpret this feedback, how it may impact upon your planning application, and how to devise a planning strategy that will succeed.

We can also help you evidence this and provide the associated statement of community involvement to support an application.

What’s involved in a public consultation?

Public consultation activity may include the distribution of information about your development to local homes and businesses and the capture of any feedback via written or online correspondence.

It may also involve the co-ordination and management of public events that bring members of the community and other representatives together to learn more about your development proposals.

And on major developments or regeneration programmes, a much deeper public consultation may be needed where you will keep all stakeholders involved and informed every step of way.

As well as managing public consultation on your behalf, we also have relationships with a wide range of allied consultants that specialise in deeper stakeholder engagement and communications that can support you.

Whatever your requirements, our public consultation activity is backed up expert planning advice that can support your consultation and planning application.
