Gaining approval for a holiday village in rural Lancashire
Project overview
Client: GHV LimitedLocation: Goosnargh
Sector: Commercial and Industrial
Project status: Planning approved
PWA provided robust planning advice to client GHV Limited, helping the applicant to gain unanimous approval for a new holiday village on the site of a redundant golf course.
What we did
Situated north of the city of Preston close to the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), this stunning development was proposed for the former nine-hole Goosnargh Golf Course which closed in 2019 following years of declining use.
The proposals for the new leisure development, to be known as Goosnargh Holiday Village, included 130 luxury holiday lodges, together with 26 touring caravan spaces, and an on-site restaurant and bar, as well as swimming, spa and gym facilities.
The proposals also included provision for 12 office ‘pods’ to allow holiday visitors a quiet space to work during their stay if required.
Working with an experienced project team – which included architects, cost consultants, noise and air quality consultants, traffic planners and heritage consultants – our application demonstrated the high level of demand for this type of quality holiday accommodation in Lancashire and how it would boost the county’s visitor economy.
This included the creation of 105 full-time equivalent jobs once fully operational and £2.6m of gross value for the local economy each year.
