Permission granted for Mill Farm Sports Village

Plans to develop the Mill Farm Sports Village to the north of Kirkham have been given the go ahead by Fylde councillors, paving the way for the new state of-the-art football ground which will be home to AFC Fylde.

Members of the Development Management Committee voted to approve the application for a 6000-seater football ground, community sports facilities as well as retail, leisure and commercial opportunities at the site close to junction three of the M55.

New site could be answer to Longridge’s housing challenge

Two Longridge businesses are putting together plans to develop a site on the southern outskirts of the town which planning experts believe could provide a solution to the housing challenge facing the community.

Local building company W Monks and S & N Forshaw, say the 20-hectare Grimbaldeston Farm site, off Preston Road, could play a key role in meeting the future residential development needs of the town.

Permitted development rights for barn conversions

The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (Amendment and Consequential Provisions) (England) Order 2014 came into force on 6 April. Among other changes it allows conversion of agricultural buildings to residential use, though in England only.

The new class MB authorises the change of use of a building and any land within its curtilage from use as an agricultural building to a use falling within Use Class C3 (dwelling-houses). It also introduces deemed consent for works reasonably necessary to convert the building to residential use.

National Planning Practice Guidance published

The government’s on-line “planning guidance” (NPPG) went live on 6 March 2014 as an additional level of support for the “National Planning Policy Framework” (NPPF).

The two documents need to be cross-referenced, but following publication of the NPPG a huge list of circulars and other publications have been cancelled.
