PWA supports Huddersfield Town training ground redevelopment

PWA Planning has helped one of England’s most historic football clubs to gain planning permission for new state-of-the-art training facilities.

We’ve worked with the team at FWP Group to help bring forward plans for a major redevelopment of Huddersfield Town FC’s current training ground at the PPG Canalside sports complex.

This includes the demolition of existing buildings to a create a first-team training facility featuring gymnasium and performance lab, media suite, medical treatment rooms, and other facilities including a whole-body cryotherapy facility, conditioning pool, sauna and steam rooms.

Under the plans for the wider site, the existing first-team building will be remodelled to provide a dedicated academy facility and new training pitch, while a new viewing stand will also be erected with improved grounds-keeping buildings, access and parking.

Josh Hellawell, planner at PWA Planning, said: “These are exciting times for Huddersfield Town both on and off the pitch. We’re proud to be working on this project which will give the club the training facilities to continue competing in the upper echelons of English football for many years to come.

“It’s one of a number of redevelopment projects that have allowed us to build up a real specialism in helping football clubs realise their expansion ambitions.”

PWA has previously worked alongside Scunthorpe United, Preston North End, AFC Fylde and Forest Green Rovers on sports stadia, training facilities and other redevelopment projects.

Huddersfield Town will start the 2019/20 season in The Championship having spent the two previous seasons in the Premier League following play-off promotion in 2017.

The club has a proud history, being formed in 1907, entering the Football League in 1910 and going on to the become the first English team to win three consecutive league titles in 1926.
