PWA supports expansion for world-renowned Lancashire manufacturer

PWA Planning has helped a world-leading Lancashire-based manufacturer achieve planning consent for a new multi-million-pound production facility.

Fort Vale Engineering, a specialist in the precision manufacture of valves and fittings for the tanker industry, will build the new facility on land at its existing HQ at Calder Vale Park in Simonstone, near Burnley.

The 27,000 sq ft development is part of an ongoing programme of investment at the site which will allow the company to make its operations more efficient and achieve growth.

Other recent developments include the construction of a new office building, research and development facility, a sports and recreation building and storage warehouse.

PWA advised the company throughout the planning process for the new production facility, which was designed by Horizon Fletcher-Rae.

Josh Hellawell, associate at PWA Planning, said: “We’re proud to have supported such a globally recognised business as Fort Vale in its expansion plans. When built, the new production facility will further enhance the site as a cutting-edge global HQ and manufacturing centre.”

Andrew Bryce, innovation director at Fort Vale, added: “The new production facility is the latest phase of our significant investment in our headquarters in Simonstone and will ensure we continue to meet the needs of our global client base.

“PWA Planning have played a key role as part of our professional team and we’re thankful for the advice and support they’ve given us in helping turn our vision into a reality.”

Fort Vale was founded in Lancashire in 1967 and its products are now used around the world in the transportation of bulk liquids in the tank container, road tanker and rail industries.

The company now has offices in the UK, USA, Netherlands, Singapore and China and has more than 450 employees.
