Plans to create a new holiday village in rural Lancashire have been granted planning permission.
PWA Planning helped its client GHV Limited to gain unanimous approval for proposals for Goosnargh Holiday Village which will be built on the site of a redundant nine-hole golf course.
The scheme will create 130 luxury holiday lodges together with 26 touring caravan spaces, an on-site restaurant and bar, swimming pool, spa facilities and a gym.
Designed by Preston-based architecture practice FWP, it will also feature 14 office ‘pods’ which will allow holiday visitors a place to work during their stay if needed.
The development, off Inglewhite Road, is expected to create over 100 full-time equivalent jobs once fully operational.
Josh Hellawell, associate at PWA Planning, said: “There is high demand for a new, high quality tourism accommodation in Lancashire and this exciting development will go some way to meeting that demand.
“The team behind the holiday village are locally based and have a genuine desire to support Lancashire’s visitor economy through the transformation of this site. We’re proud to have supported them in realising these plans and look forward to seeing them come to fruition.”
The site, which lies north of the city of Preston and close to the Forest of Bowland AONB, enjoys stunning rural views and excellent road links, being close to the M6 motorway.
The golf course that formerly occupied the site had witnessed a significant decline in player numbers in recent years and closed in 2019.
