PWA launches annual football tournament to support local charity

PWA Planning held its first official Heartbeat Charity Tournament, a five-a-side football competition held in order to raise money for Heartbeat, the North West’s leading cardiac prevention and rehabilitation charity.

The event, held at Bamber Bridge sports club, saw 12 teams competing in a group stage and knockout tournament made up of three groups, with the winning teams from each group, plus one best second placed team, going through to the semi-finals.

Teams from the following companies took part:

  • PWA Planning,
  • Cassidy + Ashton
  • Urban Green
  • Fylde Damp Proofing
  • BEk Enviro
  • Napthens LLP
  • Sunbelt Rentals Inc
  • Aldrock Renewables
  • McDade Roberts Accountants/RPS Design Group (joint team)
  • FWP Ltd
  • Eric Wright Group
  • Harrison Dury

Twenty one games were played in total, and the final saw the teams from Harrison Drury and Cassidy + Ashton face off against each other, with Harrison Drury ultimately securing a 3-0 victory.

There was an entry fee for teams who wished to participate and a Just Giving page launched to raise money for Heartbeat.

The charity supports over 950 people living with heart issues every single week by delivering specialised exercise programmes, clinical testing, nutrition, lifestyle and well-being support for people across Lancashire.

In total, we managed to raise £2,540, and if you would still like to donate, please visit our Just Giving page.

A huge thanks to the teams that took part, as well as our friends and colleagues who donated, it will make a real difference to Heartbeat. They rely solely on voluntary donations, so every penny really does count.

This was the first in what we hope if an annual event, all in the name of charity, if you or your company would like to take part next year, please email: edel.barr@pwaplanning.co.uk.
