PWA supports wildlife park with plans to double up as outdoor wedding venue

PWA Planning has supported Bowland Wild Boar Park, a 62-acre wildlife park located in the Forest of Bowland, with plans to expand its offering to include an onsite wedding venue.

The popular family-run tourist destination provides guests with a range of family-friendly activities that includes an animal sanctuary, indoor and outdoor rides, a café and ice cream parlour.

PWA submitted plans to Ribble Valley Council, on behalf of the site’s owners, to create a purpose-built wedding venue on the existing site called Bowland Tipis.

It will feature a woodland ceremony area, four adjoining tipi tents, outdoor toilets, picnic tables, a bar and catering facilities.

The venue will provide a unique setting for up to 200 guests, enhanced by views of the Forest of Bowland area of outstanding natural beauty.

It will also offer onsite accommodation for up to 60 guests with a choice of luxury lodges, shepherds huts, safari tents, camping pods, and glamping tents.

Simon McDonald, director at Simply Native Ltd which owns the site, said: “We’re so excited with our plans to launch Bowland Tipis. It will be the perfect location for couples with a passion for the outdoors who want to enjoy their special day surrounded by the natural beauty of the Forest of Bowland.

“In addition to our stunning grounds, we will be working with local partners like Bowland Escapes and Horseshoe Glamping for accommodation, and Cheek and Tongue for catering to ensure every wedding we host offers our guests an unforgettable experience.”

Josh Hellawell, associate at PWA Planning, added: “With Bowland Tipis, the team Bowland Wild Boar Park will bring a stunning new venue to the area that will be a great boost for the local economy and help their business continue to thrive.

“We’re proud to have assisted in moving this project forward and would like to thank Ribble Valley Council for their support in helping us arrive at the scheme that would get through planning.”
