Plans approved for Preston luxury house share scheme

A company which specialises in taking unloved buildings and turning them into luxury apartments aimed at young professionals and city dwellers has gained planning consent for its latest scheme in Preston.

Luxury House Share has been given the go ahead to convert an existing 23-bedroom student housing property at 19-20 Fishergate Hill into four separate properties. Each of the four new homes will provide luxury living accommodation for up to six people.

The properties, located in the Fishergate Hill conservation area close to Preston railway station and County Hall, will be aimed at young professionals and other city-based workers who want to rent luxury private accommodation with shared living, kitchen and dining spaces.

Planning consultants at PWA Planning advised the owners of Luxury House Share on gaining a ‘change of use’ planning consent for their latest development, having worked with the company on similar schemes in Preston.

Anna Cox, of Luxury House Share, said: “This project will completely revitalise this property. It’s in the perfect location for our target market on the very doorstep of a thriving city centre that is seeing significant investment and regeneration. We’re thrilled to have been given the go-ahead for the scheme which adds to our portfolio of quality accommodation in Preston.”

Lydia Harper, senior planner at PWA Planning, said: “Luxury House Share has found a real niche – creating inspiring spaces for a fast-growing part of the residential market. This latest project will provide significant internal improvements to this historic property, stopping it falling into disrepair and therefore offering a positive uplift for the Fishergate Hill conservation area.”

PWA Planning has previously worked with Anna and her team on luxury residential developments in the city’s historic Winckley Square professional district, as well as projects in Guildhall Street and Bairstow Street.
