Planning consent gained for self build homes in Lancashire

A proposal for six self-build homes in a rural Lancashire village have been given the green light.

PWA Planning advised building company J Townley on securing the outline planning consent, which will see the new family homes built on the Dean Farm Warehouse site off Pudding Pie Nook Lane in Broughton.

The proposal involves selling the plots to individuals who will then have the homes designed and built to their own requirements, subject to final planning approval.

Louise Leyland, associate at PWA Planning, added: “The development will have a positive effect on the area, particularly because it will deliver much-needed family homes in the form of self-build houses.

“The size and type of houses has not yet been determined, although the size of the plots will enable large family houses to be delivered without compromising the character of the area.

“The development will contribute to Preston’s housing supply and meet an identified local need for the provision of custom-build plots, which is something the local planning authority has a duty to provide.”

The 1.29 hectare site comprises the Dean Farm Warehouse buildings used by Thomas Moss Fruit and Veg Ltd, an area of hardstanding last used as a car park belonging to the former Oak Nurseries garden centre opposite, and an area of overgrown trees and shrubs.
