Planning consent for new homes in Glossop

Manchester-based housebuilder Pembroke Homes has received full planning permission to build 22 new homes in Glossop in the Peak District.

PWA Planning has helped secure planning consent for the development which will regenerate land off Ellison Road, close to the town centre.

The scheme will see vacant buildings on the site demolished and replaced by 17 houses and five apartments, all for private sale. The properties comprise a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes.

The brownfield site was previously used by a contract laundry business but has been vacant since 2015.

Brian Thomson, of Pembroke Homes, said: “This development will provide much-needed housing for families and young people in the Glossop area and at the same time regenerate a derelict industrial site.

“The development will be respectful of existing properties and in keeping with the nearby Glossop Conservation Area.”

Emily Robinson, senior planner at PWA Planning, added: “We’re proud to have worked with a respected and established housebuilder like Pembroke Homes to help deliver a solution for this challenging site.

“All the homes will have off-road parking and rear gardens and will provide desirable family homes in the heart of Glossop.”

The application was unanimously approved by High Peak Borough Council’s planning committee in November 2017, subject to a section 106 agreement which has now been finalised. The scheme is expected to start in the coming weeks.
