PWA Planning is working on behalf of Housing Association Jigsaw Homes and developer Stanley Investments to prepare a full planning application for a high-quality affordable housing development on derelict land at Field Street and Hey Street, Wigan.

Before formal submission of the planning application we’re keen to make local residents and other stakeholders aware of the proposed development and to invite comments from members of the community which may help inform the final layout and design.

The development site is the former cattle market site and Hey Street and up to Field Street, which is currently derelict.

Jigsaw Group’s main social purpose is to provide quality homes as solid foundations for people to thrive for the rest of their lives. We are one of the largest housing groups in England with more than 33,000 homes and by combining the strengths of two successful housing groups New Charter Group and Adactus Housing Group, Jigsaw Group creates new and exciting opportunities for tenants and customers.

The key components of the development include

  • Residential development on a brownfield and sustainable site.
  • Delivery of over 70 new residential homes in a mix of semi-detached, terrace and apartments.
  • Dedicated parking for all new homes.
  • High-quality landscaping and management across the whole development.

Pre-application discussions have taken place with Wigan Borough Council to establish a development suitable for the site. The proposed housing scheme has been informed by these discussions yet remains in draft and may be subject to revisions following comments from the local community.

Have your say

The proposed scheme will regenerate a derelict site, will reintroduce suburban quality to the area representing a vast visual improvement to the street scene whilst also meeting demand for much needed quality affordable housing in the area.

We would very much welcome and encourage your comments with regards to the proposed development.

Please send us your comments by 25th June 2018, by using the form below. We look forward to hearing from you.
